Steve Glynn - Class A Champion 2006 TVR Challenge: |

In the final round of this years' TVR
Challenge at Oulton Park, Steve Glynn took second place, securing his
victory as Class A champion for 2006. This is an extremely satisfying result in only my second season ever in motorsport. Although it was just two years ago that I completed a few track days in my road going Tuscan and decided to make the leap into proper racing, it already feels like a lifetime ago. It's something I had always wanted to do but it takes a fair amount of determination to actually make it happen. I never thought I'd be celebrating a victory of this sort in just two years, it's incredible really. Needless to say, apart from sheer determination, a reasonable amount of guts and some hard earned experience, luck also was on my side. A number of vastly more experienced racers had problems with their cars preventing them from finishing some of the races. This is where my consistency and the reliability of my Tuscan came into its' own, finishing every race we started and more often than not, getting a podium position. A big thanks needs to go to Tim Hood of Jet Black Motorsport, who has helped me enormously throughout the year, and indeed to Terry whose looked after the car so well. We have a fantastic Team at the race meets, with Tim's wife Tracey looking after us and providing catering for our sponsors and other friends who come along to support us and my wife (and mentor) and children who have been so supportive and positive throughout the Season . The atmosphere is great and it's a very professional set up which really helps to get you in the right frame of mind for the racing. Certainly, for anyone interested in getting into motorsport, I hope I've shown that it's more than possible to do it, no matter how daunting it may seem and that the TVR Challenge is an excellent place to earn your stripes. I can't wait until next Season begins. |
