27th February 2005 - Getting Started? |
|
As is so often the case in motorsport our aspirations got off to an auspicious start! The AJP8 engine due to arrive from TVR engineering early this week didn't in fact reach us until Thursday morning, leaving us just 48 hours to get the engine in and the car prepped and ready for a testing at Silverstone on Sunday.
Needless to say, having installed the engine, Andy (our Race Engineer) discovered that there was a problem with both the starter motor and the clutch bell housing. By this time it was too late for us to be able to get the parts required in order to have the car ready to go.
The icing on the cake was that the new Dunlop slicks (new tyre specification for the 2005 Tuscan Challenge series) also failed to arrive and if that wasn't enough to ensure that we couldn't make our first test date, the new harness which did at least arrive, was the wrong fitting for the car! - Perhaps it was meant to be as you may remember this was the weekend blighted by snow and the track was unable to open until midday. |
